Review: Akin Yai – Nomadic (Digital Mixtape, 2012)

Akin Yai is one emcee of the legendary CYNE (Akin, Cise, Enoch and Speck) crew from Gainesville, Florida. This is a compiled mixtape of previously unreleased material. “We are leaders not saints” the official album coming Ist quarter 2013 produced by Speck and Enoch.

❝Usually, we don’t post so much vocal HipHop because it’s hard to find something good and deep nowadays! After terrible last years, I ceased to listen to vocal HipHop but Akin caught me from the first second and I really like the whole vibe of the arrangement. Tracks like “Erotici” or “WWJD (Letters from the Front)” are strange and absolutely different but I feel it! I mean the main focus is the good old »still fresh« fusion of the instrumentals and flow! My only point of criticism is, he should stop to sing (most of the times in the same intonation) or whatever it is… The Mask on the cover is awesome but the artwork design looks weird and not on point… Anyway, the production and concept is good enough to spread some love! CYNE is still one of the best HipHop bands on this planet in my opinion… and you can feel the evolution from year to year since the African Elephants 12″ in 2001…! DON’T SLEEP!❞ 6/10 – Gordon Gieseking
