Review: Stumbleine – Ghosting (12″ Blue Vinyl/Digital – Hija De Colombia, 2012)

Ghosting is collection of early recordings from Bristol based producer Stumbleine. It features eight tracks, taken from three eps, spaced over two years. Musically Stumbleine draws heavily from rnb, chillwave & shoegaze all drowned in nostalgic lo-fi warmth. Influences range from Burial to my Bloody Valentine making the end result truly genuinely unique.

Sorrow, Sina., Sun Glitters, Stumbleine, and of course the originator Tycho. My personal favorites in this dreamy world… I can’t listen to it the whole day but it’s the best soundtrack for particular moments. The only problem is that they release too much material within a half year and it’s hard to differentiate between them.”Ghosting” is Stumbleine’s physical debut and it was about time! Besides too many digital releases in the last year, I was happy to catch up with this “Best Of” on blue transparent vinyl. The label Hija De Colombia was quite clever as they collected all the highlights and hits – Soulful tunes like “Ember“, “Cassette“, “Be Tru” etc – into one beautiful record. It doesn’t matter that almost every track, vocal effect, arrangement, structure sounds like the other one as long as you get goosebumps! To have a similar acoustic doesn’t mean anything and you can enjoy his talent multiple times… I don’t care about the simple bass music and the club life out there, I feel music in a different way!❞
