CanopÇe in biology, the canopy is the aboveground portion of a plant community or crop, formed by plant crowns. Let’s go into the world of YoggyOne from Besançon, France.
❝The beginning of this album is fantastic. “It’s where my story begins” throughout “Paper airplane to bestown” create almost one continuous sound aesthetic and atmosphere. The voices transform the whole ambiance into one cocoon. The title track “CanopÇe” isn’t my taste and nothing special in my opinion. It’s quite simple and boring and I see something else behind such a story board. After 3 skips, I found another highlight… “Memory” sounds interesting and light-footed but I was waiting for a deeper melancholy and a dramatic climax at the end. Taha Aitabi‘s voice is extraordinary and he makes me feel good, the drum set arrangement is huge too. “Ctrl+C” is a beautiful tune but I can’t endure this distorted auto-tune effect. I like natural acoustics or let’s say if you can still hear a bit of a real voice. The next song is the weakest one in my opinion, the MC 215 TFK sounds half-hearted on “Luv&War” and, even though it gets better in the middle of the track, it’s still not on point. The last jewel for me is Sacrifice, the background is nebulous but every break and voice brings the clearness back – it’s cosy, spiritual and mystical. YoggyOne’s production on “CanopÇe” is solid as always but it sounds too overloaded at times and doesn’t leave much space for the listener.❞
