Inner Worlds explores the journey of ‘The Self’, the small but expansive universe we create around ourselves and encouraging trust in the sheer strength and power it breathes within. We all create a secure and comfortable micro-cosmos we disappear into. In accepting external forces that may intrude, one must learn to surrender their safety net, revealing weakness, unveiling incompletion.

Our emotional life maps our incompleteness: A creature without any needs would never have reasons for fear, or grief, or hope, or anger.” – Martha Nussbaum

The journey for me is about connections, whether it’s about meeting people or connecting with nature or space. Music for me takes me places I wouldn’t go otherwise, travelling into yet unexplored worlds and mind states. I try to take people on a journey with my music through abstract rhythms and diverse soundscapes. The journey takes you via free jazz, electronica, hip hop, ritual drumming and noises.
Dedicated to my family and friends for their patience and confidence.
Love and light.
” – Olof

Olof Melander is a musician/producer from Malmö, Sweden. He is currently based in the South of the UK, where he studies creative music technology at Falmouth University. He makes music that takes you on a journey, drawing inspiration from various different fields such as free jazz, electronica, hip hop and dub. There’s often a feeling of peace and calmness around the music but there’s always a sense of abstract in the rhythms, some sort of organized chaos. When not making music he occupies his time with drawing and making collages.
Olof started out as a crate digger and DJ and began making his own music around 5 years ago, using a lot of different techniques such as field recordings for textures and ambience, sampling odd sounds from dusty vinyl, recording live drums and playing around with various synths.
He has previously released music with various labels such as Outlier Recordings from New York and Cosmic Compositions from New Zeeland. Outlier Recordings released his debut “The abstract Giraffe” in 2012.

PMC127Finest Ego | Mother Love by IIIII (Five Eyes)

IIIII (Five Eyes) aka Eugene Chistyakov is a young talent from Ukraine, currently living in riot shaken Kiev. This February we will be releasing his debut album ‘Mother Love’ on limited chrome cassettes and digitally. The album is dedicated to his late mother, who was a great music enthusiast and passed on her appreciation, dedication and talent to him. Soaking in his surroundings like an ethnologist, he used interaction with friends and strangers as inspiration. His music is his way to vent out and deal with negativity wherefore the titles usually give away the events that led to their creation.

Born in 1988 in the Red City, Eugene Chistyakov made his first experiences in music with his older and stronger brother, who always had control over the boombox in their shared child’s room. After a detour into dance music under the name Diablik – with support by BBC Radio 1 and various leading DJs, he found his true musical identity in the alterego IIIII (Five Eyes), which allows him to make music from his heart and mind. He also works as a sound engineer in his current home Kiev.

Mastered by Sven Friederichs. Artwork by Dimitriy Chistyakov. A&R: Malte Tarnow.

PMC115Finest Ego | Faces 12″ Series Vol. 5 with Tendts, Hanami & Daixie

Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspiring Bioniq, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and technology.

The fifth edition of our “Faces“ series comes with double the amount of producers as usually. On one side we find Greek brothers and production duo Tendts while the other side is shared by the two young artists Daixie and Hanami, from Australia and the UK respectively.

- gnothi seauton | nosce the ipsum –

The oldest masks are more than 9000 years old and have been a part of earliest ritual ceremonies. A mask disguises our true emotion and can also give the impression of fake feelings or make us appear emotionless. Strangely contrasted like the painted face of a clown, we appear sad and happy simultaneously. Moods and temper change rapidly, while there is nothing visible on the outside. We reflect ourselves in the image of others, project our ambitions and wishes but also fears into them, caring more about our perception by others until we don’t recognize our own image in the mirror anymore, instead of focusing on self-awareness and knowledge of self.

Where is the thin line between the truth and a lie? Do we all wear invisible masks during our everyday life? A story fractured into million pieces of a puzzle, waiting to be put back together.

If you were an idea, would you be a static one? An idea that never changes ?
An idea that tends to become something else ? An idea that becomes an obsession?
An idea can be an object, can be a sentence or just one word.
“Tendts“. What kind of word is that ? Could it be two words merged into one ? Or was it one from the beginning ? Let’s just say that the idea behind the word came up when two people were writing music in a room. In this particular room the only window that had a view of the outside world was always blocked by a rusty, dusty tent. Was this annoying tent worth becoming their artistic totem ? Maybe. But the one thing sure needed was a change. They had to transform the word into something else. They had to add something else. One letter.
Tent. Tend. TENDTS.

Hertfordshire based producer ‘Hanami‘ is set to stir things up in the coming months for the UK electronic music scene. Now moving away from his days of working in a live electro band, Ryan Newton has decided to embark on an ambitious solo project. A direction that he has been meaning to pursue for some time. Whilst still keeping the use of sampled instruments and drum sequencers he is looking to bring a new lease of life to the increasingly generic sounds the scene continues to produce as the music becomes more popular.

Only 19 years of age and only producing for seven months now, Alex Xie, alias Daixie, is a young producer from Australia with a Chinese and Cambodian background. While drawing influences from many artists, his main inspiration comes from nature and his everyday personal interactions. His music, based heavily on field recordings, is a way of expressing his emotions – something that he has trouble doing in his day to day life. It is his release which allows him to feel more deeply about things he can not express by other means.

Bioniq is an artwork designer, DJ and producer from St. Petersburg in cold Russia and Project: Mooncircle’s special KGB agent. With his drawings he aims to create new horizons on paper and draws inspiration from historic tales, events of the present age but also possibilities the future might hold.

PMC106Finest Ego | Faces 12″ Series Vol. 4 with Lomovolokno / Sieren

On our fourth “Faces” edition we are featuring the two ascending artists Lomovolokno and Sieren, presumably the two most unknown so far. Originally hailing from Krasnodar, Russia and Bielefeld, Germany, one was inspired by naive childhood memories of imaginative creatures seen floating in the nighttime sky, while the other looks into an uncertain future that holds the anxiety of a fresh start but also the ever present risk of failure. The artwork takes these motifs and implements them in a vision of technological enhancements of human capacities and evolvement, forming a futuristic symbiosis that enables for synaesthetic senses heightened to an subatomic degree. But it is unsure, however, if these augmentations can actually expand our human experience or rather amplify our solitary existence and emotional void while traveling across fantastic worlds and the universal vacuum filling the space between.

Krasnodar, Russia: In the midst of grey soviet housing projects, a young boy enjoys playing and improvising his first little melodies on his parents piano. Always being inspired by the nature nearby the city – memories of peaceful springtime swimming sessions in the Black Sea come to mind – Lomovolokno grows up fascinated by machinery like samplers and the rapidly increasing possibilities of modern computers. Delving deeply into twisting melodies, building sounds and crossing notes leads his way to first field recordings resulting in an influx of elements ranging from waves of the sea, the wind, sand, crackling noises, banging and rustling becoming a part of his sound.

Sieren is the maiden name of Matthias Frick’s mother and also his current alias under which he started to release his first free tracks in 2011. Rumor has it that he has a dark secret history of producing experimental techno, albeit his love for UK influenced bass music existed for more than one handful of years. It was not until recently that he began to make the most of his love for field recording and experimental soundscaping and is now throwing his full force into music, while simultaneously finishing a university degree in computer science and design before moving from small town to métropole to follow a new set of challenges and advance to the next stage of his life.

Bioniq is an artwork designer, DJ and producer from St. Petersburg in cold Russia and Project: Mooncircle’s special KGB agent. With his drawings he aims to create new horizons on paper and draws inspiration from historic tales, events of the present age but also possibilities the future might hold.

PMC103Finest Ego | Faces 12″ Series Vol. 3 with Sekuoia / Rain Dog

Faces number three will invite the two young producers Sekouia and Rain Dog to share sides on this disc and expose their musical crafts. Coming from Denmark and the UK, respectively, they are with certainty looking forward to long-lasting succesful careers. What they share is an intrinsic feel for tiny musical details which give their music an intimate feel to keep the listener mesmerized for ages. On this record they experiment with different sounds and tempos to create a dynamic collection of unique compositions that congregate an EP of colourful, low slung and ambient tunes or simply ‘chocolatefudgebrownieplasticmusic‘.

Born in Düsseldorf, Germany and grown up in Detroit, Sekuoia is a project by the 19-year old danish producer Patrick Alexander Bech Madsen. His music, based on guitar melodies, deep bass, organic beats, and chopped and screwed vocal samples, is a take on various genres and he is best described as an experimental electronica producer. His debut EP “Trips“ was released in December last year.

Having originally studied as an artist, newcomer Rain Dog has spent the last couple of years experimenting with production software, building speakers, composing music for indie shorts and making beats out of various small bedrooms scattered across the north of England. Recently he has settled in London and with a release on Echodub‘s imprint, Cut and a track featured on Project: Mooncirlce‘s 10th anniversary box LP, he continues to develop his lowslung melodic compositions.

PMC102Finest Ego | Unfold by Empt

Available digitally and on limited chrome cassettes (with digital download code), we are releasing a series of albums and EP’s from talented and promising artists. Expect all facets of instrumental hip-hop, future beats and electronic beat music….

Video by Jacob Williams.

As we pursue our lifes and the relationships it brings with it, it seems as if we just can’t avoid making the same mistakes over and over, chasing one unhealthy relationship after the other. Some say that our choice of partners is strangely predestined and we keep searching for our significant other in all the wrong places. How can we affect these templates seeming to be deeply ingrained in our brains and liberate ourselves from such self-imprisonment to find the right people, friend and partners to join our temporal journey.

Empt is 20 year old Romanian Bogdan Gridan. Always having been into music and playing various instruments, he was introduced to Ableton while still going to school about a year ago. Ever since he has been making music to process and give meaning to his everday life, being influenced by natural and organic sounds and trying to sum up and express himself by means of personal experiences and feelings.

PMC098Finest Ego | Find by Good Paul

Available digitally and on limited chrome cassettes (with digital download code), we are releasing a series of albums and EP’s from talented and promising artists. Expect all facets of instrumental hip-hop, future beats and electronic beat music….

Good Paul has been searching for that right sound ever since his career started. Never confining to only one genre or branch of music, he has been looking in various genres, but especially in the gray area between hip-hop and house, drum and bass and dub-step, always being attracted by soulful emotion with bass and broken beats. In these last 14 years he was unable to find that one special sound. This EP, however, is his solution for this neverending search.

In his own words:
“To live well we need to learn and know about a lot of different things. Draw your plans in an attempt to consciously create the future. It turns out that often the decisive moments in our life are found. I have never sought music by artists or genres, but instead, I am just trying to find music that gets to me in terms of emotion.
I hope there will be people who find the music from this EP, because that music found me.”

The artwork was created by Mateusz Kolek, who is known for his playful, psychedelic and dreamlike illustrations, heavily influenced by Soviet science fiction flicks and Japanese anime’s.

Bio:
Good Paul from Krakow, Poland, has spent already 14 years behind the decks and is well known for his musical selection and technical skill. Being a Red Bull Music Academy alumni (Toronto, 2007) and lecturer (Warsaw, 2012), he self-released a free EP entitled „One More Time“ and has been remixing various projects in the advanced futuristic music scene in Poland, in particular for U Know Me Records from Warsaw.

Szenario Bio
What most people believe to be a Vienna-based producer, is in actual fact, a weird creature living in the native forests and mountains of the Bohemian Alps. Feeding on all kinds of herbs and roots as well as insects and mollusks, Szenario only leaves his hiding place after sunset to rummage for food in the moss and soil, utilizing his sensitive antennae. Every once in a while, during obsucre rituals passed on from ancient cults, Szenario assumes human shape and can be seen with peculiar beat machines which have been used during sacred rites in temples centuries ago.

PMC095Finest Ego | Faces 12″ Series Vol. 2 with Mike Gao / Daisuke Tanabe.

Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspiring LNY, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and animals.

Going to be released upcoming February, the second edition of our “Faces“ series will exhibit works by the two extraordinary producers Daisuke Tanabe and Mike Gao. Again, coming from very distinct biographical backgrounds – despite their obvious Asian descent – the two are connected through their artistic excellence and uncompromising musical creations and visions. In symbiosis with these nocturnal flying mammals they use their ultra-precise sonic waves to navigate imperturbably through dark nights, leaving their prey with no chance of escape.

Limited 12” vinyl for serious collectors, DJ’s and record addicts only!

Mike Gao is a music technology researcher, holds a Masters degree in Music Technology at Stanford and is pursuing his PhD in Electrical Engineering at UCSD. After a career as underground Hip Hop and Scratch DJ in Chicago (working with such names as Qwel, Mestizo and Luckyiam) he began partaking and winning in numerous beat battles, Low End Theory being the most prominent one, which makes him one of the best kept secrets in the Los Angeles beat scene. He released music on labels such as All City with Tokimonsta, Galapagos4, Project: Mooncircle and many more…

Tokyo resident Daisuke Tanabe, a former art student who also lived in London for a while, developed from his techno/breakbeat background into a very unique sound between Hip Hop, Electronica, Folk and Jazz. He released music on labels such as Ninja Tune, BBE, Project: Mooncircle and Brownswood Recordings, performed with Zero DB and remixed artists like Elan Mehler and Aaron Jerome.

LNY is an artist living and working between New Jersey and New York. He makes art that is drawing based, social and open to the public in general; hence his drawings can be found pasted on buildings all over the world as well as in galleries and on 16-year-old kids’ tumblrs all over the internet. He is one half of Doodledrag, a New Jersey based doodling collective and always welcomes collaboration.

PMC082Finest Ego | United Kingdom / Ireland Compilation

As beats and producers in and around hip hop enjoyed a renaissance of interest and impact in the last decade, certain geographical locations established themselves to form an axis of production innovation hubs. In North America you had Los Angeles, Ann Harbor and Montreal. In Europe there was Glasgow in Scotland, Dublin in Ireland and London in England.

It was thanks to certain young producers that parts of the UK and Ireland became focal points in this beats renaissance. People such as Hudson Mohawke in Glasgow, Mike Slott in Dublin – who worked closely together in their formative years – and Paul White in London. In many ways these three producers were a perfect example of the diverse approaches that could be heard at the time. They each had, and still have, distinct styles and ideas and from the mid to the late 00s established themselves as household names. Each carved a niche for himself in the ever expanding and changing world of hip hop and electronic productions and emerged from what was then a small, but growing, underground phenomenon to wider public acclaim in recent years.

In their wake a new generation of producers arose to further expand upon and develop what hip hop and electronic productions can come to mean in the 21st century. Thanks primarily to the internet, this new generation found itself no longer geographically limited with the entire world becoming quite literally everyone’s playground.

The Finest Ego United Kingdom and Ireland compilation is the latest installment in a global series shining a light on new and established production talent. Following from editions covering Japan, Russia and Australia and New Zealand, this new installment brings forward 25 producers from every corner of the British and Irish isles.

On one side you have established talents like Mr Beatnick, Eliott Yorke (of Royalty and Foreign Beggars fame), Kelpe, Jay Scarlett (of Beat Dimensions fame), Om Unit, Sound Species and Ean (formerly Various Production) who have each been working in and around the UK scene for close to a decade now. And on the other side you’ve got upcoming – sometimes under new names – talents: Danny Drive Thru from Manchester, S Type (LuckyMe) and Soosh from Scotland, Darkhouse Family, Monky and Mr Healan from Wales, Bobby Tank, Arp101 (Eglo Records) and fLako from London, Lapalux from Essex, Huess from Bath, Benjamin One from Bristol, Sert One from Northern Ireland and Eomac, T-Woc, Vince Mack Mongrul and Melodica Deathship from Ireland. All these producers have been slowly but surely establishing their names in hip hop and electronic circles over the last few years.

Finest Ego United Kingdom and Ireland compilation represents many of the best talent around these isles today. It is by no means a definitive document though it is one of the strongest and most relevant ones you’ll find today. From straight up hip hop styles to downtempo, ambient electronica via boogie, dub and techno interpretations, Finest Ego UK and Ireland represents a snapshot of some of the best established and upcoming producers in these countries at the beginning of the ’10s.

PMC086Finest Ego | Faces 12″ Series: Ta-Ku / Pavel Dovgal

Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspiring LNY, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and animals.

The very first installment of the “Faces” series will feature the two prolific beathsmiths Pavel Dovgal & Ta-Ku. Coming from backgrounds which could not possibly be any more different – Ta-Ku has Philippine roots and grew up in Australia while Pavel was born in Russia and moved to Ukraine at young age – these two artists share a common connection through their relentless work-ethic and individualistic creative approach to making music. They have been fighting for international recognition with their extravagant beats, just like the Megasoma & Hercules beetles fight for female recognition with their extravagant horns.

Limited 12” vinyl for serious collectors, DJ’s and record addicts only!

Artist biographies:

Pavel Dovgal was born in Vladivostok, Russia and moved to Ukraine at quite a young age, where he realized that his true calling was music. His music is experimental, surprising, and daring and his talent and hard work have brought him local musical success. (The release in 2010 of his first solo album on Project Mooncircle turned this local success into international recognition.) Pavel’s music is a trip into a fable and his medium is the music of different genres: Hip Hop, Dubstep, Glitch, Wonky and Downbeat, used to form pictures. His work is free spirited and there are hints of feelings, allusions, enigma and mystery. We won’t get into the inner workings of his music, how it finds its way into the hearts and souls of the audience, the important thing is that it serves its purpose.

Recent Redbull Academy participant, Reggie ‘Ta-ku’ Mathews, has gone from strength to strength and has released a plethora of beat tapes and with releases set to drop in 2011, this future beat maker has a lot more coming and many more releases to unleash.

LNY is an artist living and working between New Jersey and New York. He makes art that is drawing based, social and open to the public in general; hence his drawings can be found pasted on buildings all over the world as well as in galleries and on 16-year-old kids’ tumblrs all over the internet. PMC034Finest Ego | Russian Beatmaker Compilation

The tendency towards advanced beats seems to be more and more a global phenomenon. As we already have said: Decentred beats for decentred people. During the last few years arose also in Russia a small, loosely networked scene of people, who have experimented with Hip Hop-beats. But in this case, the young Russians have no examples or references for this kind of music in the musical culture of their own country. All of their inspirations are taken from blogs and from the intensive study of their role models worldwide. The result is an organic, very playful, snappy and jazzy sound, which is carried by a common vibe, but is in the same way as diverse as the finest egos of the artists themselves.

The compilation includes Pavel Dovgal, DZA, Pixelord, Demokracy, Moa Pillar, Arktor, Shawalski, Myown, Nienvox, 813 and Long Arm.

Мы представляем Вам второй сборник серии Finest Ego,с такими музыкантами как Pavel Dovgal,DZA,Pixelord,Demokracy,Moa Pillar,Arktor,Shawalski,Myown,Nienvox,813 и Long Arm.В итоге сборник получился очень разнообразный,некоторые треки звучат джазово и органично,а некоторые наоборот,можно даже отнести больше к дабстепу,чем к хип-хопу.

Release date: December, 3rd.
